OUR STORY
Why We Started HVH
HVH Advisory Group was founded by Chris Muir-Smith and Pete Smith with a simple belief — that great HR advice should be accessible to every Western Australian business, not just the ones with large budgets and in-house HR teams.
Between them, Chris and Pete bring decades of hands-on experience across some of WA’s most complex workplace relations environments — from mining and construction to healthcare, retail, and professional services. They have sat across the table in enterprise bargaining negotiations, guided businesses through Fair Work Commission proceedings, and helped organisations of every size build the people frameworks that underpin long-term success.
WHY WE STARTED HVH
Too many WA businesses were receiving generic, reactive HR advice — cookie-cutter policies, expensive retainers with little contact, and advisers who didn’t understand the operational realities of running a business in this state. Chris and Pete saw an opportunity to do things differently.
HVH Advisory Group was built around relationships, not transactions. Every client gets direct access to an experienced adviser — not a junior consultant or a call centre. We take the time to understand your business, your people, and your goals before we recommend anything.
HOW WE WORK
We operate on a simple model — retainer, project, or ad hoc. No lock-in contracts, no hidden fees, no surprises. Whether you need ongoing strategic support or help navigating a specific challenge, we structure our engagement around what works for you.
Our client portal gives every HVH client a secure, professional space to access their documents, track active matters, submit requests, and communicate directly with their adviser — available any time, from any device.
OUR COMMITMENT TO WA BUSINESSES
Western Australia has its own distinct business environment — from the rhythms of the resources sector to the challenges facing small and medium enterprises across Perth and the regions. We are proud to be a WA firm, built by WA practitioners, serving WA businesses.
If you are ready to build a workplace that works — for your business and your people — we would love to hear from you.
